The Yemen Arab Republic (الجمهوريّة العربية اليمنية), also known as North Yemen, was a country from 1962 to 1990 in the northern part of what is now the Republic of Yemen. The republican government of the YAR was supported by Egypt (at the time the United Arab Republic) during the North Yemen Civil War, which raged from 1962 until 1967. Airborne and Commando units did receive Egyptian made camouflage uniforms of that time period.
