The Yemen Arab Republic (الجمهوريّة العربية اليمنية), also known as North Yemen, was a country from 1962 to 1990 in the northern part of what is now the Republic of Yemen. The republican government of the YAR was supported by Egypt (at the time the United Arab Republic) during the North Yemen Civil War, which raged from 1962 until 1967. Airborne and Commando units did receive Egyptian made camouflage uniforms of that time period.
- During the 1960s, Egypt produced a reversible camouflage uniform, printed on one side with a "rocks" design (derived from the German WW2 Planetree pattern) seen here.
- The opposite side of the uniform was printed with a two-color desert or "sand" camouflage pattern seen here.
