Commonwealth of Puerto Rico

The Commonwealth of Puerto Rico (Estado Libre Asociado de Puerto Rico) is an unincorporated territory of the United States in the Caribbean. Claimed as territory by Spain in the late 15th century, the island nation remained a Spanish possession until the Spanish American War when it was invaded by the United States and later ceded by Spain in the Treaty of Paris.

The Puerto Rico National Guard are a component of the US National Guard. Units wear the same uniforms and insignia as the US Army, and fall under the command of the Governor of Puerto Rico. The Policia de Puerto Rico (Puerto Rico Police Department) are the primary law enforcement agency in the nation and includes a Special Operations Division (DOE) and a Tactical Operations Division (DOT).

Camouflage Patterns of Puerto Rico

• Units of the Puerto Rico National Guard previously wore the US m81 woodland camouflage BDU. This has since been discarded in favor of the ACU.

• Currently, Puerto Rico National Guard members wear the standard US Army Combat Uniform (ACU) in Universal Camouflage Pattern (UCP).

• The Special Operations and Special Tactical Divisions of the Puerto Rico Police Dept wear a variation of the woodland camouflage pattern having black "branches" over organic dark grey & grey-blue shapes on a pale blue background.
