Kryptek
Kryptek Outdoor Group was founded by combat veterans Butch Whiting and Josh Cleghorn in 2010, who drew upon their combat experience in extreme environmental conditions to design a unique line of camouflage patterns. The company produces a technical hunting clothing line based on tactical military apparel attributes. [1] Kryptek produces two primary camouflage design patterns. Their standard geometry, which doesn't appear to have a name, has nine different colorways. Obskura has only three colorways.
Kryptek™ L.E.A.F. camouflage features a bi-level layering design that incorporates background transitional shading and sharp random geometrical foregrounds to create a three dimensional effect that ensures concealment at both close and long ranges. Several variations of the pattern exist, all of which are based on mimicry of foliage, animal, marine and geographic visual qualities. Three of its designs were submitted as part of the US Army Camouflage Improvement Effort Field Trials of 2012, meeting the US DOD's requirement for patterns capable of performing in desert (Nomad), temperate (Mandrake) and transitional (Highlander) environments.
- K1 Altitude is intended for above the tree-line environments where cover is sparse.
- K2 Highlander is intended for desert environments, sage brush, and open terrain.
- K3 Mandrake is intended for forests, jungles, and dark timber.
- K4 Typhon is intended for night camouflage and urban environments.
- K5 Neptune is a lifestyle camouflage intended for fishing.
- K6 Raid is intended for urban camouflage.
- K7 Inferno is a blaze orange camouflage intended for hunting where safety orange is required.
- K8 Wraith is intended for arctic and snow laden environments
- K9 Pontus is a lifestyle camouflage intended for fishing.
- KO1 Obskura Transitional is intended for use in numerous environments that may be considered transitional.
- KO2 Obskura Grom is intended for winter environments where green vegetation is still visible.
- KO3 Obskura Nox is intended for law enforcement and counter terror units.
