The former Socialist Republic of Czechoslovakia was on January 1 1993 divided into two states: the Slovak Republic (Slovakia) and the Czech Republic. Although two separate nations, the Slovakian Armed Forces have largely followed the military traditions set by their Czech cousins.

Slovakian Camouflage Patterns

  • A woodland camouflage pattern was adopted by Slovakia in 1995, replacing the Czech vz95 leaf pattern that had been issued for the previous two years. Based on different drawings than the US m81 woodland pattern, the Slovakian pattern features black, brown & foliage green woodland shapes on a khaki background. Some collectors refer to this as "bright woodland."

  • Also introduced in 1995, the Slovakian desert camouflage pattern is essentially a copy of the Czech desert pattern originally issued in 1985. The coloration is slightly different, and the style of uniform also differs from the Czech version.
