- Early splinter pattern. Used during WW2 or shortly afterwards. Some details of the uniform suggest that it was pre-Communist era.
- 1953 splinter pattern. A very crudely printed splinter pattern used for coveralls.
- Splinter pattern. Used by the Bulgarian armed forces during the communist era.
- "Frogskin" pattern. Used during the communist era for coveralls. Some sources claim that it was to be used by paratroopers (to confuse NATO forces), and that it was later used by Border Patrols (not Border Guards). Other claim that it was used by Border Guards.
- "Rain drop" pattern. Like many other Warsaw Pact armies, the Bulgarian Army used this pattern for coveralls (apparently only limited issue).
- Bulgarian DPM - introduced when Bulgaria became member of NATO. A variation of the British DPM pattern
- Bulgarian desert DPM. Used by Bulgarian troops deployed to Iraq.
Bulgarian Rangers deployed to Afghanistan (2009) has been photographed wearing US style 3 colour desert uniforms
