QwaQwa was a tribal homeland in the easter region of [[South Africa|Republic of South Africa]] from 1974 until 1994.<ref> The African Homeland, or ''bantustan,'' was a territory specifically set aside for black Africans of a specific ethnic or tribal group during the apartheid era.</ref> The region was set aside for Sesotho-speaking people and granted nominal self-government in 1974.

QwaQwa had no Defence Force, but the QwaQwa Police Force was established in 1983.

== QwaQwa Camouflage ==

* Although not completely verified, there is some possibility that the camouflage design seen below was created for use by the QwaQwa Police Force. This pattern has traditionally been attributed as a "test" pattern for [[South Africa - Transkei]].
