Lebowa
Lebowa was a tribal homeland in the northeastern region of Republic of South Africa from 1971 until 1994.[1] The region was set aside for Northern Sotho-speaking people, and granted nominal self-rule in 1972.
The basis of a Lebowa Defense Force began with the raising of two Sotho-speaking black battalions in 1980. These units were designated 117 Battalion and 118 Battalion.
Lebowa was reincorporated into South Africa on 27 April 1994, becoming part of the Limpopo province.
Lebowa Camouflage Patterns
There is no evidence that any camouflage patterns were worn by 117 Battalion.
